The Adventures of Superboy

television_subpage_adventures_of_superboy_1961
The Adventures of Superboy A black-and-white television series developed by Whitney Ellsworth in 1961. After the success of The Adventures of Superman TV show made famous by George Reeves, Whitney Ellsworth who was then editor of the National Periodical Publications (currently known as DC Comics) wanted to make a 'Superboy' themed superhero show called The Adventures of Superboy. It would be a similar take on the popular “Superboy” comic books of that time and center around a teen-age Clark Kent/Superboy and his adventures with Lana Lang.
Sadly, only a pilot episode was ever completed for television out of the 13 planned scripts written for the show and even then the pilot never aired. The filmed black-and-white pilot episode was titled “Raja’s Ransom” and it starred 23 year old John Rockwell as Clark Kent/Superboy and 18 year old Bunny Henning as Lana Lang. This technically marks Lana Lang’s first live action appearance!
