After many reunions and partings due to fate, the two finally were able to be together for a while. But as Clark does not reveal his secret, Lana leaves and later marries Lex. Kristin Kreuk as Lana Lang Drawings by Zindy S.D. Nielsen

Some pretty amazing drawings of Kristin Kreuk as Lana Lang by Zindy S.D. Nielsen!

This talented artist has created some very beautiful pieces of artwork featuring Kristin Kreuk over the years and has several of these pieces displayed on her website. Her portraits often include brief descriptions and thoughts about her finished works as well as links to see the original inspired image.

According to her site, the portrait highlighted below was inspired by 'Smallville's' episode "Spell" where Lana Lang gets possessed by her ancestor witch Isobel. This particular black-and-white piece was created using soft coal and measures 30x40 cm. It is absolutely stunning!

Zindy S.D. Nielsen: "I've always liked Kristin Kreuk and she was mostly the reason I watched Smallville. Her and the sweet love story between Clark and she. Recently they started showing season 4 here and I saw this episode where she, Louis and Chloe turned into witches. Lana looked amazing as a dark girl, always thought she did, whenever something evil happens to her she turns into this hottie. Anyway, that's the reason I wanted to do another drawing of her. I feel quite happy with this one as it's fantasy like, wanted her hair to be big and dreamy and tried making it look like she was lying down instead. I used a reference for her face, you can see it here. Picture made with soft coal."

"SMALLVILLE IN A NUTSHELL

In case you've been living underneath a Kryptonite rock ...

Smallville follows the adventures of a pre-Superman CLARK KENT (Tom Welling), a young man with extraordinary powers, and begins as he navigates the rocky waters of high school alongside romantic interest LANA LANG (Kristin Kreuk) and friend CHLOE SULLIVAN (Allison Mack)...

CASTING ABOUT

Of the original young ensemble, Kristin Kreuk was the first to be cast (as Lana), while Sam Jones III (Pete Ross) was the last. Allison Mack auditioned twice for Chloe, a character created for the series, while Michael Rosenbaum lobbied to play Lex. It would take months—and some coaxing—to find and sign Tom Welling to play Clark...

DAVID: I knew Tom was the perfect guy when Clark runs into Lana Lang for the first time. Lana had a kryptonite necklace on her neck, so Clark tumbled onto the ground, dropping his books. I said to myself, "That's him."

KRISTIN KREUK (Lana Lang): I tested with Tom, and he was perfect.

KRISTIN: I was just out of high school when I auditioned for Lana, and since I had so little experience in the business I had no understanding of how lucky I was.

SHOOTING THE PILOT

Smallville was filmed in Vancouver, chosen both for cost savings as well as its ability to pass for both Kansas and Metropolis. Production on the pilot began in March 2001, and shooting lasted for nearly a month—beginning just days after the final role was cast...

KRISTIN: It was a long shoot, and I was very scared. We had always wanted this show to be about Clark Kent's normal struggle as a teenage boy and his journey to become a hero. For the metaphor to work powerfully, there had to be a reality supporting the fantasy. That was a big part of the pilot.

Smallville's Best Guest Stars!

Margot Kidder (Dr. Bridgette Crosby, multiple episodes)

Kidder's first Smallville appearance was with Annette O'Toole, who played Lana Lang to her Lois Lane in Superman III (O'Toole is Michael McKean's real-life wife).

BIG-TIME LUTHORS

KRISTIN: Michael is a strong actor and Lex is a strong character, so it was hard not to notice when he left.

OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD FANS

KRISTIN: When Allison and I were in Paris together a few years in, we couldn't walk through a museum without being followed by a swarm of teenagers. It was madness."

The Superman III soundtrack was released in 1983 and was adapted and re-recorded by British composer Ken Thorne. The film's producers (Alexander Salkind and Ilya Salkind) also hired Giorgio Moroder to write and produce original songs for the film, which were performed by various artists. Moroder wrote the instrumental "Love Theme" for Clark Kent (Christopher Reeve) and Lana Lang (Annette O'Toole), which was performed by Helen St. John on the soundtrack album.

Lana Lang in 'Smallville's' Series Finale Comic Book

Lana Lang appeared in a 'Smallville' comic book that was featured in the show's series finale. It was during the opening scene where we see Chloe reading a comic to a little boy (presumably her son with Oliver Queen), about Clark Kent's journey in Smallville. Within the pages of the book, we see a panel with Pete, Clark, Chloe, and Lana standing by the lockers of Smallville High. Very cute. Although, hopefully, this was the only copy of the comic Chloe was reading to her young son otherwise, Superman's secret identity has been severely compromised.

Lana Lang Flashback Appearances on 'Smallville's' Finale

As previously mentioned, Kristin Kreuk did not reprise her role as Lana Lang for the show's final episode. However, Lana's character was still remembered through the use of flashbacks within the 2-hour finale. The following is a list of Lana's flashback appearances...

-Lana first appears in the opening sequence with the now famous scene where she asks Clark Kent the question that many 'Smallville' fans have waited 10 years to have answered..."So, what are you... Man or Superman?"

blog_sv_pilot_lana_lang

-Lana's next appearance is during Clark Kent's 'trials' scene; right before he takes flight for the very first time. The three flashback sequences used were: Clark saving Lana from tornado- "Tempest"/'Vortex" (Season 1 & 2), Clark taking a bullet for Lana- "Crisis" (Season 3), & Clark catching Lana after being thrown from a building- "Action" (Season 7). Also, if you look closely, there is a very brief glimpse of the Clark/Lana save in "Hereafter" (Season 3) where he saves Lana from a burning house.

YouTube Link

-Finally, Lana appears in a series of flashbacks as Lex looses his memories. The three flashback sequences used were: Lex as Zod kissing Lana on top of Luthorcorp- "Vessel" (Season 5), Lex slapping Lana in "Phantom" (Season 6), & Lex marrying Lana- "Promise" (Season 6).

YouTube Link

There ya go...Lana's final nods from the show. I am glad that Lana's character was at least remembered with the inclusion of these flashbacks in the finale. She played such and integral part on the show that it would have been such a blatant disrespect to the character, actor, and fans to be completely ignored. However, her absence in the finale was still a very obvious one for me. I am left wondering what happened to her? Is she still out saving people? Is she happy? Where exactly is she and why didn't the JLA recruit her to stop the many villains with her new-found powers? Oh well, maybe it is better this way. I wouldn't want her to return only to have her memories be erased like they did to Lex Luthor's character. Didn't like that bit of storyline at all.

A special thank you to Adam for the YouTube Links as well as the respective YouTube channels for uploading the clips! Also, a big thank you to Rhiannon and Arista for their great recaps of the epsiode! Finally, thanks to the great fans over at SWEET Forum for making this long 'Smallville' ride a GREAT ONE...love you all very much!
