'TV Guide' Articles on 'Beauty and the Beast'

TV Guide has been highlighting The CW's 'Beauty and the Beast' in several articles:

Smallville Bosses Shape a New Breed of "Superman" in Beauty and the Beast - "...What we learned after a decade is that there are rules to heroes and there are expectations," Souders adds. "The complication is it's a superhero who doesn't necessarily have total control over himself."

Fans of Smallville will find some similarities between the two super men and their powers. While Clark Kent was guided through the emergence of new powers, Vincent's journey will not be as easy. "[Clark's heat vision] was so nicely handled in one episode with his dad and a burnt scarecrow and he'd gotten it under control," Peterson says. "Whereas, Vincent is learning that his powers are more and more out of control as the season progresses, which is the opposite problem Clark had..."

Fall TV: Familiar Faces in New Places - "Kristin Kreuk, Beauty and the Beast -

How You Know Her: Kreuk is best known for playing Clark Kent's first true love Lana Lang on Smallville. Always one step away from finding out Clark's secret, Lana was the perpetual damsel in distress.

The tables have turned and Kreuk is now the one saving herself — and others — portraying an ass-kicking cop who teams up with a semi-beastly vigilante to investigate a shady government agency whom supposedly murdered her mother."

Fall TV Stars to Watch - "Jay Ryan, Beauty and the Beast

Despite his role as Vincent Keller (a.k.a. "the Beast") in the CW's reboot of the 1987 series based on the classic fairytale, Ryan is (to put it mildly) pretty easy on the eyes. Ryan and his counterpart Kristin Kreuk, who plays Catherine Chandler, will undoubtedly be one of the hottest couples in primetime — at least as far as looks are concerned. The chemistry between the two actors will certainly give viewers a forbidden romance to root for this fall."

Fall TV: Must-Watch New Shows - Beauty and the Beast(CW) -Premieres: Thursday, Oct. 11 at 9/8c

Kristin Kreuk and Kiwi Jay Ryan star in the titular roles, but don't expect dancing candelabras or even a hairy beast. Ryan's Vincent Keller/beast will have nothing more than a scar on his face, though his actions will get "beastlier," as the producers put it, as the series progresses. The show is a remake of the 1987 procedural starring Linda Hamilton and Ron Perlman. Hamilton sent Kreuk and Ryan notes and photos wishing them good luck."
