From: examiner

"What Basis did promise, though, was that Beauty and the Beast didn't want to "blow their load," so to speak in the first episode when it came to showing off the extent of what Vincent looks like, or is capable of, when he becomes enraged. Basis shared that it was a conscious effort on director Gary Fleder's part to keep Vincent in the shadows when talking even to J.T. to hide the scar on his face so then when he revealed his true potential to Catherine (Kristin Kreuk) in the alley, it was a much bigger "Oh, sh*t!" moment-- but still not the biggest one of the series.

"Where would you go from there?" Basis pointed out.

After all, Vincent "turns" into the beast when he becomes "enraged" and therefore unable to control his "super strength and heightened senses." Why Catherine may have ticked him off, and while some of the dangerous situations he saved her from may also have gotten his blood boiling, he's bound to encounter even heavier anger-inducing foes as the weeks go on..."
