In 2006, a novel based on the Warner Bros. Pictures film  'Superman Returns' was released. It was written by former Editor-In-Chief of Marvel Comics and famed comic book writer Marv Wolfman.

The unique thing about this book is that unlike the film, it featured Lana Lang in several fabulous key moments throughout the story. For instance, when Superman is getting killed by Lex Luthor in a pivitol scene in both the book and film, he thinks of Lana...

"Superman groaned again as a foot smashed into the side of his head. Clark saw Lana across the crowded corridor, taking math books out of her locker, talking and laughing with Pete. Before Lana's dad moved them into an apartment in town, they owned the farm next to the Kents, not that Professor Lang ever farmed it. His wife's family had inherited the place, and they lived there until Lana's mom died, when Lana was only nine. Luthor's elbow crashed down on his side. Superman heard several ribs crack. As far as Clark was concerned, there was nobody more beautiful in Smallville than Lana Lang. Nobody Clark cared about more and nobody he had more trouble talking to. Lana Lang is briefly mentioned in two different character 'cards' in the DC Comics Super Heroes and Villains Fandex card collection.

What is it?

'DC Comics Super Heroes and Villains Fandex' is a set of 75 cards with full-color pictures and descriptions of certain DC comic book characters. Each card includes bio information, first appearances, a character's history overview as well as key facts about the character. The author is Randall Lotowycz and the cards' artwork is comprised of various notable comic book artists. If you are looking for a 'quick' and 'basic' introduction to DC Comics' characters, then this is for you. Although, it is important to note this is pre 'New 52' reboot.

Lana Lang is not highlighted with her own card [I checked], but she is mentioned in the 'Superman' & 'Supergirl' fandex cards.

Legendary Women, Inc. & SWEET have joined forces to help raise funds to support the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation honoring two Smallville female characters and the actresses who portrayed them: Lana Lang (Kristin Kreuk) & Chloe Sullivan (Allison Mack). Awesome!

The fundraiser will run from January 12 to February 12, 2012 and all the funds raised will be donated to the Reeve Foundation on February 20, 2012.

"There's a tradition of Smallville fans raising money for the Reeve Foundation," says Carolyn West of Legendary Women, Inc. "It started in 2003 when Christopher Reeve first appeared on Smallville and it's estimated fans have raised 7,600.00 U.S. dollars over the years. In 2010 Legendary Women, Inc. turned it into an annual event and last year we were able to personally present actress Allison Mack with a certificate showing how much had been donated."

"It made sense that this year Smallville fandom would unite to honor Lana and Chloe," adds Katie Silverman of Sweet. "On the show both characters cared deeply about the world and went to extraordinary measures to help others. Even though Smallville is now off the air, we can keep their spirits alive by supporting the Reeve Foundation in its efforts to cure spinal cord injuries and help those living with paralysis."

"Kristin is talented, super-friendly and funny; her conversation is peppered with jokes and silly accents. It's hard to imagine that the 28-year-old who became famous for playing young Superman's love interest, Lana Lang, on the hit TV show Smallville could just as easily have ended up a criminal psychologist or a marine biologist. She was applying for university courses 11 years ago when she decided to go to her first audition on a whim, having never acted in anything but a school play. She landed the lead character on the CBC teen drama Edgemont. "From there, everything changed," she says. Two years later she began her eight-year stint on Smallville. "When I first started, my father used to drive me to the set in Langley [an hour outside of Vancouver] at 4 a.m.!" says Kristin." ~ Chatelaine (December 2011)
